BR describes the capture of these two Pike in both the Angling Star and Cambridgeshire Pride. Fish captured within a space of a few hours.  Unfortunately BR only had with him a disposable camera with one picture left.  The only picture available is a Pike in mud on the water’s edge, having avoided the photo call beside the landing net

Footnote:

Looking at the list, Fenland 30’s seem to be on the increase.  However, this is not so. Several recent entries are recaptures of the same fish.  Photographs prove the point. Numbers 44, 45, 46, 47 and possibly 42, are the same pike.

I first saw her in February ’99, the largest of 5 different 20’s that I captured from the water in a 2-week period. I commented to Barry Whitby, my fishing companion, that one day she would make 30lb. Captors of the fish (so far) are:

Feb ’99 Denis Moules 24.03 (39”)
Nov ’99                          Barry Whitby 27.08
Jan ’00 George Pearson 26.01
Feb ’00 Denis Moules 25.12
Dec ’00 Mick Hands 30.10 *
Sept ’01  David Fogg 30.00
Nov ’01  Peter Ely   32.06
Dec ’01 Roger Hurren 31.04 [45"]
Feb ’02  David Fogg 30.08

* No means of identification, but fish was captured in the same swim as some of the other captures.

It is a credit to all the captors that this fish has been landed many times and remains in pristine condition.
